Sniper
Combat role
Long-range precision — Range 4 lets it fire on targets that cannot retaliate in the same turn.
Lore
The sniper of the 2030s is less a marksman than a small firm: shooter, spotter-technician, and a suite of atmospherics sensors, gait-recognition optics, and a rifle whose smart rounds correct their own spin in flight. Confirmed engagements at two kilometers stopped being newsworthy years ago.
Every faction trains them differently — the American Federation embeds them with drone teams, the Chinese Harmony rotates them through counter-sniper duty on the fortified frontiers — but the effect on the receiving end is identical: somewhere out there, past anything you can see or reach, is a team that has already measured the wind between you.
Armies do not fear snipers for the casualties, which are few. They fear them for what they do to movement. Officers stop standing still. Columns stop bunching. Everything slows down, which is the point.
When to use
Use the Sniper's Range 4 to delete light units and wounded targets without ever taking return fire. Keep it behind your line — its Move 1 means a fast raider that closes the gap will not miss twice.
